**Traveling to the Caribbean during hurricane season**

1. What type of storm guarantee policy is offered by your hotel/resort? Read the fine print! Have a clear understanding of what type of reimbursement is offered in writing - full refund, partial refund, or replacement vacation. Also be aware of nonrefundable advance-booking prepayment, as well as cancellation penalties.

2. Purchase a travel insurance. All travel insurance policies are not equal. For instance, many policies do not cover "tropical warnings" - and the best and more expensive policies include  cancel for any reason.
