The annual Conch Festival in the beachfront community of Blue Hills is the most anticipated event of the year in Turks & Caicos

The festival weekend includes games, competitions, local entertainment, and a $10,000 Pot of Gold raffle by the Rotary Club of Providenciales. Domino competitions featuring a Heavy Weight Championship round and less cutthroat kid’s competitions will also take place over the course of the weekend.

One of the festival highlights will be live ripsaw music provided by TCI Mask-a-Noo

Ripsaw music is the national music of the Turks & Caicos Islands. The name “ripsaw” comes from the local name for the handsaw. A "ripping” sound is produced by passing a metal object called the “scraper” along the side of the saw’s teeth. While the saw is the rhythmic foundation, other instruments in the ripshaw band include the accordion, concertina, goat and cow skin drums, triangle, shakers (maracas), box guitar and conga drums.

Chefs from more than 25 restaurants will compete for prizes in best conch dishes ranging from chowders and salads to burgers and sliders.

Tickets prices are $15 for children and $30 for adults. For more information, visit

Happy Travels,
