Cayman Island Batabano Carnival 2014

Batabano the national carnival is held annually during the first week of May and features the islands cultural diversity, music and cuisine 

The name "Batabano" reflects the Cayman’s turtle heritage, and refers to the tracks left in the sand by sea turtles as they crawl onto the beach to nest. 

Adult Batabano - May 1 - 3, 2014 

Thousands of locals and visitors line the streets to enjoy the parade of stilt walkers, acrobats, limbo dancers, and colorful costumed bands. 

Other events include Art In The Heart which features the works of local artists, craft vendors, along with local food vendors and some of Cayman’s best restaurants serving the islands local cuisine. Junior Parade & Family Fun Day - May 10, 2014 

The family friendly Junior Batabano started in 2002, and this year marks the 12th anniversary. 

Held in the capital, George Town, Junior Batabano features music bands that parade before the pageant judges to win the best junior band. Other activities include decorating masks, face painting, food stalls sponsored by the school PTA's.
