Barbados tourism is getting a major boost with the new daily JetBlue direct flight from Ft Lauderdale, Florida
And many Barbadians can now access this service to shop and visit family and friends living in south Florida, as the new service offers cheaper flights.
Steel pan music played before JetBlue’s inaugural flight left Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, along with entertainment by saxophonist Elan Trotman, the Bajan Forever Crop Over Band based in Miami, Florida, and the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders joined in the celebration. As the flight exited the tarmac airport workers staged a march holding a large Barbadian flag and a water salute.
Robin Hayes, Chief executive officer of JetBlue, was onboard the inaugural flight. Hayes says the decision to operate a flight out of Ft Lauderdale had been a long-term dream of his, coupled with numerous requests for such a service.
