Caribbean Festivals November 2018

Here's the lineup for November Food Festivals, Island Marathons, Open Water Swims, and there's also a one of a kind Caribbean Festival . . .

Caribbean Food & Wine Festival
Nov 01 – Nov 03, 2018
Turks & Caicos Islands 

The 8th annual festival will be held at the Grace Bay Club which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. 

The festival includes a five-course gourmet meal, with each course sampled at different award-winning restaurants with their own unique fare along with fine wines.

Barbados Open Water Festival
Nov 7 – Nov 11, 2018

This 7th annual event attracts swimmers from at least 15 countries around the globe including Olympians, World Champions, Masters Swim Champions, World Record Holders, Junior Champions, Pan Am Medallists and scores of recreational swimmers. 

The Open Water Festival offers races over four distances: 1.5K, 3.3K, 5K and a 10K.  For those swimmers who do not wish to race or be timed there is a 1.5K “Just For Fun” Swim which aids a children's charity on the island.

Cayman Islands Pirates Week
Nov 8 – Nov 16, 2018

The official theme of the 2018 festival as “‘Celebrating the Seas”, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Cayman Coat of Arms, and in an effort to raise awareness of ocean conservation.

Pirates Week 2018 will start in Cayman Brac on Friday, November 2nd, move on to Grand Cayman on Thursday, November 8th and finish up Friday, November 16th in Little Cayman

Cayman Island Pirates Week is the only event of its kind in the Caribbean region and is one of the biggest events in the Caymans celebrating island culture and pirate folklore.  

The most popular festival event is the infamous pirate invasion where costumed pirates invade the islands from the sea in George Town Harbour, and capture the Governor. Other events include street dances, competitions, games, food festival, children’s fun day, teen dances, two parades, sporting events for all ages, spectacular fireworks displays, and even a doggie costume parade.

Nevis Triathlon

Swim, Cycle and Run in this world-class one-day event hosted by St Kitts-Nevis Triathlon Federation - and there's an award for each participant who finishes!

The swim starts with a beach start and finishes in Charlestown, the capital of Nevis. The swim distance is 500 meters with one shorter swim for one lap, and swimmers doing the longer race will complete two laps. 

The 20-mile scenic bike course goes around the entire island of Nevis complete with challenging hills and fast descents. As with the above swim, race participants can choose one 20 mile lap or complete two 40 mile laps.  

The 3-mile run is a mix of road trail and beach and winds through the center of Charlestown then into Bath Village. Once again participants have the choice of choosing to run or two laps.

Curacao Marathon

The 5th edition of the KLM Curaçao Marathon and Half Marathon course will take runners along the beautiful waterfront of Curaçao, across the famous Queen Emma pontoon bridge (swinging old lady), and over the Juliana Bridge which is one of the highest bridges in the world. 

This year's race is offering a new 5 KM Walk & Run, 10 KM Walk & Run, and the 9.7 KM Trail off-road run. The race finishes on the beach, and there's the famous "Pasta Party" for everyone to enjoy.
